Serious riders understand that shock absorbers are the foundation of any winning suspension package. In fact, many riders, trainers, and mechanics agree they are the most critical component on a race vehicle. From the beginning, Custom Axis has focused on developing a line of racing shocks that define excellence in quality, durability, and performance. Axis shocks are engineered exclusively for the extreme demands of ATV and off-road racing, which is why top professional riders continue to trust Axis to compete at the highest levels.
All Custom Axis shocks are designed and manufactured using the finest materials available and the latest CAD/CAM technology. Axis does not use cast or welded components. Damper bodies are precision machined from special smooth burnish ID steel tubing and treated with a proprietary surface enhancement process that provides outstanding wear resistance and corrosion protection.
Shock eyelet pivots feature aircraft grade, Teflon lined spherical bearings with stainless steel mounting spacers to ensure strength, smooth articulation, and long service life. All aluminum internal and external components are CNC machined from 7075-T6 billet or 6061-T6 tubing and hard anodized for durability while preventing contamination of the suspension fluid.
Damping pistons are engineered with high flow, low turbulence port designs to accommodate the higher shaft speeds found in modern long travel suspensions. Compression and rebound adjusters are optimized for high speed shaft displacement and utilize a stationary damping piston within the reservoir, allowing precise tuning without compromising low-speed damping control.
Custom Axis shocks utilize robust 5/8-inch diameter shafts capable of handling significantly higher damping loads with reduced fatigue compared to many competing designs. Performance is further enhanced through Axis’s own race proven suspension fluids and premium race springs, including Hyperco.
To further tailor performance, Axis offers a wide range of internal valving options and upgrades. These allow us to achieve a plush, predictable cornering feel while maintaining the high damping levels necessary to resist bottoming on large bumps and jumps. Custom spring configurations are also available, including single, dual, and triple rate setups, ensuring the suspension matches both rider preference and terrain.
Beyond the product itself, Custom Axis is known for unmatched customer support. The same technicians who build the shocks are also active at track. Combined with a network of professional riders who continuously provide feedback, Axis is constantly refining setups to ensure customers receive the best possible performance for their application. With over twenty years of experience in off-road and ATV racing suspension, Custom Axis has the knowledge, craftsmanship, and race-proven results to meet the demands of the most serious riders.
